About the Executive Director:
T.H.E. Institute is directed by Geoffrey H. Fletcher, Ed.D. Dr. Fletcher has a rich and varied background in education and technology, covering virtually every corner of education-from the classroom, to the school district office, the university campus, and the state department of education.

In addition to serving as Executive Director of T.H.E. Institute, Fletcher is Editorial Director of T.H.E. Journal. He serves on the board of the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) and on the Texas Educational Technology Advisory Committee. He often speaks at national meetings and conferences on trends in technology and education.

His broad range of experiences include teaching secondary English, as well as working in gifted programs and futures study programs at both the school district and university levels. Fletcher has served as a technology coordinator at LaPorte Independent School District in Texas and has served as Executive Director for the Texas Computer Education Association. He has held numerous technology-related positions at the Texas Education Agency (TEA), including directing TEA's Information Technology department and the largest state student information system, PEIMS. When Dr. Fletcher left TEA, he was Associate Commissioner, responsible for Curriculum, Assessment, Textbooks, Technology and Professional Development.

Fletcher has co-authored the first state Long-Range Plan for Technology which resulted in a statewide education network and video-conferencing system, an educational technology research entity, research projects, educational technology preview centers at 20 regional education service centers, an annual technology allotment, and the adoption of technology based textbooks.

Dr. Fletcher holds a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Teaching from Miami University, and an Ed.D. in Education, emphasis on futures study, gifted education, and curriculum from the University of Cincinnati.

Institute provides expertise regarding technology and education to numerous projects directed by MGT, and frequently partners with MGT to assist state departments of education, state auditors, and other governmental entities, as well as companies, regional education service centers, and school districts become more efficient and effective.
