Course 510 - Internet Literacy - Making the Most of the Web


Length of Course: 3 Modules
Course Hours (Seat Time): 6 study hours minimum 

Course Description: This course covers three areas to assist educators in using the Web for lessons, teaching, and group activities in the classroom. Participants will learn about Search Engines, how they work and which ones are most appropriate for their students; Web literacy, how to evaluate Web sites and prevent and detect plagiarism; and how to use the Web effectively in the classroom, developing activities and lesson plans.

Goals:

  • Understand the different types of search engines and how they work
  • Understand Web hoaxes
  • Identify plagiarism and educate your students about the pitfalls of plagiarism
  • Learn how to integrate the Web into classroom instruction
  • Identify lesson plans and activities that can be used in your classroom
