Course 777 - Using the WWW to teach Middle School Mathematics


Length of Course: 9 Modules
Course Hours (Seat Time): 10 study hours minimum 

Course Description: In this course teachers will explore the challenges to transition from a teacher directed Middle School Math Class to one that uses the Internet to transform the teacher as a facilitator and moderator of learning. Participants will learn how to teach critical and creative thinking skills while using content generally delivered in middle school mathematics. Activities that are "internet based" and designed to walk the participant through challenging problems that require multiple steps and computations.

Course Outline: This course is organized into 9 modules:


Lesson 1: Basics of Searching the Web
Lesson 2: Creative/Critical Thinking Strategies
Lesson 3: Average, Mean, Medium & Mode
Lesson 4: Linear Equations
Lesson 5: Fractions & Decimals
Lesson 6: Ratio, Percent & Proportion
Lesson 7: Measurement
Lesson 8: Patterns & Sets
Lesson 9: Formulating Lesson Plans
