WELCOME!

Welcome to our course on Integrating Technology into Language Arts. This course is designed to help language arts teachers explore current research and technology integration ideas and then build a standards-based project that incorporates project-based learning concepts. The project will be developed in a WebQuest or Research Investigation format using a process that involves crafting a challenge or problem, developing guiding questions, sorting and analyzing information, and forming a final product or presentation that solves a real-world problem.

Expectations

The course is designed to be completed in ten weeks. The course is divided into Sections. Each section includes assignments, collaboration among participants, resources and course materials. Each section is approximately one-two weeks and centers around a subtopic designed to cover themes, information, skills, and resources.

Getting Started

The course is organized into theme-based sections with each section broken down into smaller subsections. Each subsection has a specific assignment that is completed on the Course Worksheet. The last subsection is always called a Coda. The Coda is designed as a place to review the goals and think and reflect on the section that was just completed. As a starting point, you will want to click on the Information link in the left margin for more specific details on course requirements and options for Continuing Education Units (CEU) and graduate credit. The Resources page will provide you with important links to course materials, resources, and worksheets.

After looking over the information and requirements, you should proceed to the green Introductions tab (above) and begin the first section of the course. Should you need help along the way, please contact your course moderator for assistance.
