Course Syllabus for
Integrating Technology into Mathematics

This course is designed to be twelve weeks in duration - ten weeks of course material and two weeks to complete and submit all required coursework.

Week 1
Introductions

  • Understand course expectations, resources, and communication modes with moderator, and class members.
  • Define your students’ curricular needs, physical environment, and how you see teaching and learning now and in the future.

Weeks 2-3
Developing a Vision

  • Increase awareness of state and national standards in mathematics and technology.
  • Gain knowledge in research on technology in the classroom and technology in mathematics.
  • Begin developing a vision for the impact that technology will have on student learning in your classroom.
Weeks 4-5
Teaching with Technology
  • Gain knowledge and ideas for using online math tools and resources
  • Understand classroom management and instructional strategies for technology integration
  • Learn about online lesson plan sites for teachers of mathematics
Week 6
Standards &
Assessments
  • Understand individual state math and technology standards
  • Become familiar with a variety of assessment strategies
  • Identify assessment strategies that may be appropriate to the intended learning within your selected standards
Weeks 7-9
Creating the Unit
  • Create a unit of study for your math classroom that integrates technology.
Week 10
Course Completion
  • Complete course materials
  • Evaluate course
  • Review partner resources and special course offer
